On Twitter, Khairy Jamaluddin, coordinating minister for the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme, said that mothers could now enter their expected month and year of delivery or their breastfeeding status in order to receive the vaccines best suited to their condition. In May, Khairy announced that only the Pfizer-BioNTech Covid-19 vaccine is suitable to be given to pregnant women. For expecting mothers, the jab is recommended to be given between 14 and 33 weeks of the pregnancy, though the minister advises them to consult with their doctors before going for the vaccination.
Women who are nursing have more options, as both the Pfizer and the Astrazeneca vaccines have been deemed suitable for lactating mothers. As for Sinovac, its safety regarding nursing has not yet been determined and will be announced at a later date. (Source: Malaymail)
