With a resolution of 64MP, the GW1 is currently the highest resolution sensor in the lineup. According to the company, the sensor also able to deliver bright 16MP output during low-light conditions with the help of its Tetracell pixel-merging technology. In bright light condition, GW1 utilizes remosaic algorithm in order to deliver highly detailed 64MP output. GW1 also comes with real-time HDR capability of up to 100dB which is much higher than an average image sensor which goes at around 60dB. The sensor’s HDR capability is also not that far away from the human eye which is said to be around 120dB. Samsung has also packed other tech into GW1 including Dual Conversion Gain (DGC), Super PD auto-focus technology, and the support for full HD 480fps slow-mo video recording. On another hand, GM2 is a 48MP sensor that also utilizes Tetracell for low light condition and remosaic algorithm in a bright environment. Samsung has also adopted DGC and Super PD technology for the sensor. In its announcement, Samsung stated that both ISOCELL sensors are currently in sampling stages right now and are expected to be mass produced within the second half of 2019. With that, we also expect 64MP smartphones to pop up in the market very soon.
