The championship is a result of a series of regional qualifiers across the globe. In our case, our local teams, Team Todak and Axis eSports, managed to reach the playoff stage.

As the first day of the playoff kicked off last Friday, there is still an immense crowd for the day. As the gates opened at 10 am, everyone made their way to their seat and were soon greeted with a world-class production for its opening ceremony.

Moonton had clearly put in a lot of effort to entertain the crowds. There were screens that display statistics and key events, as well as cameras for each players, allowing the audience to visibly confirm their reactions.

All in all, the first day was pretty much a warmup session for everyone. Audiences can redeem in-game items included in their ticket, as well as interact with the players. Additionally, there are meet and greet sessions held for fans to get their signatures.

One of the highlights of the tournament is when the local crowd favourite Team Todak goes against Indonesia’s Rex Regum Qeon (RRQ) game to fight for the spot in grand finals. As the fan watched anticipatedly and cheered for Team Todak, however, Team RRQ is proved to be too strong and managed to beat Todak with a score of 3-1. We even spotted local professional Dota 2 player Mushi among the audience.

During the grand finals, both Indonesian teams Evos Legend and RRQ had to play in a best of seven formats to be crowned as the first champions of the M1 Championship. Needless to say, things were pretty intense as RRQ took the first three games and Evos Legends managed to make a comeback with four games straight afterwards.

In the end, Evos Legend took the last game in a flash, with Team RRQ not able to fight back. As a result, Evos Legend were crowned the champions for the first-ever Mobile Legends World Championship.

And that was it. Overall, we saw some quality material coming from the mobile game eSports division. At the end of the match, Moonton announced that the next Mobile Legends M2 Championship will be held in Jakarta, Indonesia next year.
