Like its predecessor which was released last year, the brand aims to have the new A74 5G to be its most affordable 5G enabled, Snapdragon powered smartphone. On that note, under its hood is an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 480 chipset with Adreno 619 GPU, paired with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of UFS 2.1 internal storage. The device comes with a 5,000mAh battery with 18W fast charging support via USB-C, and handling the software side of things is OPPO’s Android 11-based ColorOS 11.1 interface.
In terms of display, the OPPO A74 5G features a flat 6.5-inch LTPS IPS LCD display with a resolution of 1080 x 2400 px and a refresh rate of 90Hz. Situated on the top left corner of the screen is a punch-hole cutout for its 16MP selfie camera, and on the right side of the phone is a side mounted fingerprint sensor for user verification. Other than that, it also features Bluetooth 5.1 and NFC connectivity, as well as a 3.5mm headphone jack.
Photography-wise, on its back is a rectangular island which houses a quad camera array. These include a 48MP main camera, an 8MP ultra-wide, 2MP macro, and a 2MP depth sensor. The phone is capable of recording up to 1080p videos at 30fps with electronic image stabilisation (EIS) enhancement.
As mentioned earlier, the new OPPO A74 5G will be sold in Malaysia exclusively on Shoppee from 5 to 18 May, at an attractive price of RM1099. However, it’s worth noting that in conjunction with the brand’s Super Brand Day sale on 5 to 7 May, the new smartphone will be available at a special promotional of only RM999. In addition, OPPO noted that the first 1,000 users who purchase the OPPO A74 5G on Shopee are also entitled to receive a “Fast & Long-Lasting Bundle” worth RM278.
