The person who ultimately bought the prototype Nintendo PlayStation was Greg McLemore, who founded Pets.com and Toys.com. He says it was “the single most expensive thing I’ve bought outside of a house”. He believes it was still a great deal, well worth the price for a piece of gaming history. McLemore said he’ll put up the Nintendo PlayStation prototype up in exhibitions in the near future. According to CNN, he is working with the USC Pacific Asia Museum in the US on an interactive gaming exhibition. He will consider opening a permanent museum for it depending on if the exhibitions go well.
Ultimately, if you compare the final sale price of the Nintendo PlayStation prototype and the initial US$1.2 million (~RM5.04 million), maybe it was a good deal after all.
