First reported by Twitter user @KevinNgTK, the new Mobile+ plan is currently under testing in India as well. However, the plan costs slightly higher in Malaysia at RM 25 per month as opposed to INR 299 (~RM 17) over there.

When compared to the original Mobile plan which currently costs RM 17 per month, the new Mobile+ plan offers several upgrades including access to higher resolution content from 480p to 1080p which is on par with Netflix’s Standard plan. Mobile+ subscribers are also allowed to access the service via their PC instead of just phone or tablet. However, the Mobile+ subscribers can only view Netflix on just one device at a time. Based on our previous experience with the original Mobile plan in 2018, the new Mobile+ plan is generally not part of Netflix’s official offerings yet since it is being referred to as a “test plan”.

For the same reason, don’t be surprised if the plan doesn’t show up on your device although those that never signed up for Netflix before should have a higher chance of seeing it. In India, the company has pointed out that it will only fully commit to the plan if it is well received by consumers. Even though Netflix has yet to provide any Malaysia-specific statement regarding the new Mobile+ plan, we believe it should do the same over here.
