Even Hiroshi Lockheimer, the SVP of Android at Google has also joined in the fun which further showed how significant the Surface Duo to both companies. However, it is only today that Microsoft has officially revealed the full specifications of the device as well as its official release date and pricing. For starters, the Surface Duo is equipped with two 5.6-inch AMOLED displays that have a native resolution of 1800×1350, 401ppi pixel density, and 100% sRGB as well as DCI-P3 colour gamut coverage. When opened, they are designed to represent an 8.1-inch 2700×1800 screen and also supports existing Surface Pen models including the Surface Slim Pen.
The dual-screen Android 10 device also comes standard with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 and 6GB of RAM with up to 256GB UFS 3.0 internal storage. As odd as this might sound, the Surface Duo only comes with one 11MP camera although it has been infused with AI-based photo optimisation.
Completing its general specifications is a 3577mAh battery which is apparently able to deliver up to 15.5 hours of local video playback, 27 hours of talk time, and 10 days standby time. An 18W fast charger also comes as a standard with Surface Duo. To be available in the United States on 10 September, Surface Duo 128GB model is priced at USD 1399 (~RM 5867) while the 256GB model goes for USD 1499 (~RM 6286). We have reached out to Microsoft Malaysia’s representative to obtain local availability and price for the device but unfortunately, we were told that the company has nothing to share at this moment.
