According to the company, the rebranding was done to be in sync with the aim of its parent company, Lion Air Group to establish a common identity for all full-service airlines within the group. In the same announcement, the airline also revealed that it will be adding several Boeing 737 aircrafts to its existing fleet to cater for markets that Malindo/Batik Air has operated in before the pandemic. Malindo Air’s name intends to signify a cooperative pact between Malaysia and Indonesia. On the other hand, Batik Air is the name of the full-service airline that the group operates in Indonesia while Lion Air Group also operates several other airlines including Wings Air, Lion Bizjet, Thai Lion Air, and Lion Air.
