Much like its predecessor, the VIVE Focus Plus is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 SoC, 4GB RAM and has 32GB of internal storage. It has a 3K AMOLED display that offers 1440 x 1600 pixels per eye, which is on par with the Oculus Quest. The headset also uses built-in cameras for inside-out tracking, thus eliminating the need for cables. HTC also created a new pair of ultrasonic controllers with six-degrees-of-freedom (6DoF) for the new headset. The controller features an analogue trigger that allows users to control objects or interact with pressure-sensitive input. It will be more practical for intricate tasks like a medical simulation shown in the video. The headset also features new Fresnel lenses. Designed to reduce the screen door effect. There’s also a multi-mode feature that enables users to access content from any device, including PC VR, smartphones and game consoles.
The HTC Vive Focus Plus will be available through the VIVE website starting 15 April for US$799 (~RM3249) in 25 countries around the world. However, there are no details yet on whether the headset will arrive on our shores. (Source: Engadget, Vive)
