Google says that the incident began at 12:25 PM US Pacific Time, which translates to 3:25 AM local time. The company managed to resolve the issue at a little over four hours later, but did not elaborate on what caused the congestion. Affected services include YouTube, Google Cloud and G Suite.
Incidentally, Snapchat was also affected by the high levels of congestion during the same period of time. Reuters reports that it uses Google Cloud, which may explain the Snapchat outage coinciding with the Google Cloud issues. For what it’s worth, it doesn’t look like it affects us here in Malaysia directly.
