Revealed in a note to developers, the change is slated to take effect next month, affecting both apps and in-store purchases. The note says the price increase will start “as early as” 5 October, meaning some of the regions mentioned might see the change on a later date. Among the countries that will fall under the new app store markup include Malaysia, Chile, Egypt, Japan, Pakistan, Poland, South Korea, Sweden, Vietnam, and any territory that uses the Euro as its currency — with the exception of Montenegro....

If you are already excited to grab Netflix’s access via your Astro subscription, hold your horses. This is because what is happening today is just a mere formality. In general, Astro is still not ready to provide Netflix access to its customers right now. This is unlike the launch of Disney+ Hotstar whereby there was a set date for Astro customers to activate their access although the company was completely swarmed by customers’ request when the activation day arrived....

This means that to take advantage of this promo, new customers will have to opt for the other packages that are offered by Astro. This includes the Entertainment and Sports packs which costs RM89.99 per month for each, not including the cost of broadband. As you might have realized, quite a fair number of those titles belonged to Blizzard such as Warcraft and Diablo. While there might not be big releases from Blizzard at the moment, Activision Chief Operating Officer Coddy Johnson has said that the company will be making new Warcraft games. As for Diablo, Coddy has stated that the company will be adding more people into the development team which does sound a little counterintuitive considering the massive layoffs....

While no major announcement was made since then, Blizzard has set up a webpage for the announcement livestream. The date on it says 3 May with a time of 10AM Pacific, which translates to 1AM of 4 May local time. It doesn’t specifically say that it’s the reveal for its Warcraft mobile game, but the timing lines up. Blizzard said that in its quarterly earnings report that it was “planning substantial new content for the Warcraft franchise in 2022”....

Based on the trailer, the series will be plunging players back into World War II and, based on the way it has been structured and the official poster, will be focusing on four different characters, across the four theatres of the war. Beyond that, it really doesn’t reveal much else about the game. But as per an earlier report, Activision is still adamant about doing a full reveal via an event within its free-to-play Battle Royale title, Warzone, on 19 August (20 August for us, because of the time difference)....

The Cherry Viola switches makes use of a new design that, according to TechCrunch, moves some of the complexity into the circuitboard of the keyboard itself. This allows the switches to be hotswappable if something goes wrong with an individual switch. The cross-stem for attaching keycaps are still there, allowing keyboard makers to reuse existing designs. In terms of numbers, AnandTech says the Cherry Viola closely resembles the Cherry MX Red....

The banks were directed to abstain from providing products or services like trading, clearing and settlement for cryptocurrency transactions. Hence, the central bank echoed the stance adopted by three key Chinese industry bodies last month. The Agricultural Bank of China, the country’s third-largest lender by assets, said it would comply, as did China’s Postal Savings Bank. Alipay, which is owned by embattled Jack Ma-founded Ant Group, said it would establish a monitoring system to detect illegal cryptocurrency transactions....

Bloomberg reports that Ant Group, another company founded by Ma, has also had representatives called up to participate in meetings “intended to drive home increasingly stringent financial regulations”. Though no details were provided regarding what the meeting, or indeed the monopoly investigation, entails. Zhongguancun Internet Finance Institute researcher Dong Ximiao says that this is an effort by the country to “reign in Jack Ma’s empire, which symbolised China’s new ‘too-big-to-fail entities”....

However, cinemas can only operate at 50% of their usual capacity. At the same time, they are also only allowed to admit customers that have been fully vaccinated. Aside from it being able to “check hacking activities”, he did not reveal any other detail about the app, such as how it actually works.
