According to the report by Reuters, the telcos named were China Unicom Americas as well as Pacific Networks and its subsidiary ComNet which collectively are owned by CITIC Group Corporation. At the moment, China Unicom Americas and Pacific Networks have a two-decade old authorisation to operate in the US. The FCC accused the firms of failing “at this stage to dispel serious concerns” about their US authorisations. FCC Commissioner Geoffrey Starks observed that many Chinese telcos also owned data centres in the US, but said that the agency currently lacked authority to “address this potential national security threat....

In Expedition mode, the battery life would be reduced to around two months which is still quite significant. Even in Smartwatch mode, the Instinct Solar can last for more than 50 days or between 38 hours in GPS mode. Of course, this is provided the watch receives enough exposure to the solar light which is aplenty in Malaysia given our climate....

Chip shortages have affected various automakers around the world, including companies such as Volkswagen, GM Motors, Nissan and many others. This resulted in the shutting down of assembly lines which has slowed down vehicle production from car brands. The report says that German economy minister Peter Altmaier has requested his Taiwanese counterpart Wang Mei-hua to address the issue in talks with Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co Ltd (TSMC). In a letter addressed to Wang, Altmaier is asking Taiwan to enable additional capacities and deliveries of semiconductors in the short and medium term....

Android Police reports that the Google Assistant will give you notifications that ask if you want to trigger actions you usually do at a certain time. It’s similar to the traffic notification example above, just with the need for your input as an extra element. You can either tap on the notification itself to have the Google Assistant carry out the action, or expand it to reveal two options. The first is “Do it now”, which does the same thing as just tapping on the notification itself....

The Alphabet-owned company has already begun sending out its “Made by Google” invites to several media outlet. The invite itself doesn’t reveal much, save for the obvious launch date and venue for the event. However, the “Come see a few new things Made by Google” line at the bottom suggests that the search engine plans on showing off other devices besides the Google Pixel 4 series. Beyond that, the invite is unsurprisingly vague about the details about the phone....

Fuchsia is said to be a re-design of both the Android and Chrome OS from the ground up. Therefore it only seems logical for it to carry support for as many chipsets and platforms as possible. In this particular case, the Kirin 970 SoC used in the Honor Play smartphone is also one of the first consumer SoC to be supported by the Fuchsia project. On top of that, the reports states that the SoC successfully booted into the Fuchsia OS with minimal problems....

Grab says that the Passenger Verification feature is already baked into the app’s software....

With the new pricing structure, delivery fees for selected restaurants in Klang Valley that are less than 1km away will be charged as low as RM2. Whereas for locations outside of the area, the same amount is applied for selected eateries that are less than 2.5km away. According to Grab, the company will be subsidising the delivery fees that are lower than RM5 to its delivery partners in order to ensure fair compensation....
